Los Osos Valley Road Improvements Project

Central Coast Engineering

Location: San Luis Obispo, California

Summary: The Los Osos Valley Road Improvement Project involved the widen of approximately 2,800 linear feet of existing two-lane roadway starting at Calle Joaquin near Highway 101 and ending at Garcia Drive in San Luis Obispo. Road widening was required to accommodate traffic load servicing the Home Depot that is currently being widened by the developers of the DeVaul Ranch. Under this proposal, that portion of LOVR would be widened from two lanes (in the stretch from Madonna Road to the Home Depot) and almost four lanes (past Madonna to Highway 101) to six 11-foot-wide travel lanes, two 6 foot wide Class II bike lanes, and a 16-foot-wide landscaped center median. Grading and the placement of fill material will have to take place on both sides of the road to accomplish the project. Utility poles currently located in the wetlands will have to be relocated as part of this activity.
